Our Skincare Routine

I’ve always been aware of how important it is to take care of your skin. It also helped that my mum took care of her skin. I had a good example. As soon as I could afford it, I bought nice skin creams, and made sure to always remove my make-up before bed. I spent so much money on the most expensive day creams, but to be honest, I didn’t really notice a huge difference.

Hydration comes from the inside

We started noticing a difference when we drank more water. You can put as many creams on your skin, but if you don’t take care of your body from the inside, there’s no point. And yes, it takes a bit of time. Don’t expect to see results within a few days, but a few weeks will definitely make a difference.

Sharing our skincare routine

Since our trip Paul and I have developed a good skin routine. We drink 1.5 – 2 liters of water per day, clean our skin daily, use an eye cream (I’m using one from Aphrodite for Professionals, which has a higher concentration than the commercial ones, and it’s now my favorite brand), serum, and day cream. Twice a week we use a mild face mask and an eye mask, and we really can see a difference.

I’ve always had deep lines around my eyes. They didn’t really bother me, but made me look older than I am. Since I’ve been drinking 2 liters of water per day and using the eye cream, it looks a lot better! Paul also notices a difference. His skin is clear from any blemishes and has a natural glow.

House brands are just as good

What I find important to share is that you do not need the expensive brands per se. I mean, the cheaper ones (house brands) also do the job. It does take a bit longer, but the results are just as good. There’s nothing wrong with the more exclusive brands, but not everyone can afford it, or doesn’t want to spend too much money on it. Everyday life is already getting more and more expensive, so when you can save a bit of money… Why not?

Which brands are we using at the moment?

These brands are very affordable and available in the Balkans, sold at DM drugstore. This is a drugstore with imported products from Germany. Balea is their house brand, but I’m sure that a lot of these products will be sold in other countries.

  • Aphrodite → eye cream (3 peptides, this one is expensive, but very good)
  • Balea → face mask (different ones)
  • Balea (for men) → face mask, eye roller (Q10, Energy eye roller)
  • Revuele → day cream, eye cream (Vitanorm C+ Energy, Retinol Forte)
  • MBeauty Cosmetics → eye mask (gold foil)
  • Alverde (for men) → face serum (Hydro Nature)
