Flowers of Nîs

Two weeks ago we arrived in Nîs, Serbia and we love it! The weather is nice, the surroundings are pleasant and there is a lot to do. It helped me to pick up my photography again. I’m an absolute beginner, so by all means not a professional photographer. It’s a hobby of mine. So last week I finally went out again with my camera (Sony A6000 with SEL 18-200 LE) to practice.

It has been way too long, and I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I went to a small park near the river and tried to photograph some flowers. Hmm, how did it work again? Last year I did a course, but to be honest, I forgot a lot. I wish I had practiced a bit more in between. But it doesn’t really matter, I’ll remember with more practice. Back to the park!

Like many other people, I LOVE flowers. Beautiful photos of flowers always cheer me up, so I hope these photos will do the same for you! If you are a photographer, I’m always open to receive some tips!

My first photo of the day:

The focus is a bit off, but it helped me to understand what to do different.

My favorite photo of the day:

Okay, I was really proud when I saw the end result of this photo. The position of the flower is not perfect, but the faded background is so nice.

Some other photos I took:

A few things I’ve learned during this photograph session:

  • It’s better to photograph earlier or later in the day. The direct sunlight in the middle of the day is making the photos too light.
  • Take my time to figure out the correct setting of the camera. I got a lot of stares from people, and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable. That’s why I didn’t give myself enough time to figure out the best setting for the photo.
  • Do not disturb the bees. I wanted to take a close-up of a tulip because a bee was sitting nicely on the flower. What I didn’t know is that I was on their flight route! They nipped me a few times. Ouch!

Let me know what you think of my photos. Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
