For some people it is easy, but for others it can be a challenge. Staying in your comfort zone is safe, and it provides stability. That doesn’t sound that bad at all!
But when you want to achieve things, you have no choice but to leave your comfort zone every once in a while. Let me share my story about the last time I left mine.
It wasn’t that long ago. In October last year my partner received a message from the company he worked for, that he would be out of work within a month. This was a big shock! What do we do now?! In the last year he was already toying with the idea to start his own company, but he didn’t really know where to start. Well, there is no time like the present! Now is the time to figure it out! So I started for him. I’ve never started a company before, or built a website. I had absolutely no knowledge at all about this stuff.
So I just started. I dove into the web, looking for articles about starting a company and building a website, followed many webinars, and made so many mistakes! I felt tired, frustrated and honestly quite panicked!
But eventually the mistakes helped me to understand what I needed to do, and built this amazing website. Yes, amazing! I am not going to be modest, because it took a lot of hard work, determination, and stepping out of many comfort zones! I managed to build and design a website within a month, including a scheduling and payment system! Talking about stepping out of my comfort zone!
Of course I tweaked some more things over the last months, but it proves that when you try and not give up, you can achieve almost anything! Are you curious which website I build? Click here.
Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while. You will see it is worth it!
Tips for stepping out of your comfort zone:
- Start with small steps. I had to start with a big one because we had no choice, but I would not recommend this.
- Make the mistakes. They will help you grow.
- Do not be afraid to ask for help. You do not have to do it alone!
- Do your research and educate yourself.
That’s amazing! You definitely went from your comfort zone into many learning zones! Did you know that psychologists say that it’s natural for humans to have the desire to learn things. Staying in just one stage of your life can be unnatural and frustrating for many. On the other hand, there’s also the panic zone. That’s the zone you enter when you dared too much, when you overestimated yourself, and stepped from the learning zone into the panic zones. In this case your tip of starting with small steps is a really wise one, as well as the advice to get prepared and educate yourself.
Can’t wait for more of your exciting and inspiring stories! 🙂
